The Tramway of Clermont-Ferrand
I forget to speak about the brand new tram of Clermont-Ferrand. It is not finished yet and will really start to run in October.
Most of the railway is built and I was surprise to notice that is a monorail or very very broad. I did not see any special conditions to explain this choice, but I found an explanation: They want vehicles with wheels to keep using Michelin tyres.
OK for a real answer in french look wikipedia and Translohr.

Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme 63) 02.08-06.08
Clermont-Ferrand the town of Michelin. Hervé is the very big winner, he is the only one to answer (and correctly) to my question. He will receive a very special price.
I discovered the Michelin building only after having walked 5 minutes the first night, I already was lost and saw a huge building -like the one of Nestlé in Vevey. And I had to walk along a very very long street where only Michelin's buildings are.
Clermont Ferrand was two towns: Clermont and Montferrand, so you can visit double so many churches and historical centers. Many buildings are black or very dark, because the stones come from volcanoes. The most important is the Basilic Notre dame du Port (Harbor), I don't understand why, because there is no river, nether sea there, or I didn't check well.
Clermont-Ferrand is the town of Blaise Pascal, you know the guy who created the very first computer, in the 17th century, and also Vercingétorix for more details please read Asterix.
I get lost with french départements et régions, Clermont-Ferrand is in le département du Puy-de-Dôme, which is in la région d'Auvergne. They are 95 départements and 22 régions, without DOM-TOM, but probably some colleague from Europost can explain this better than me.

Roanne (Loire) 26.07-02.08
Actually they are plenty things to say about Roanne ....
I went there to visit a friend. She comes from Algeria and as kid she spent often Summer Holidays by my family. Now she is a doctor at Roanne hospital. We didn't see us for ages, but we had very good time together, lot of talking, good meals and some visits around.
You find in Roanne - like it is written on the map from the tourist office - the best known restaurant of the world: Troisgros I didn't go eating there even is not so expensive: € 170.- for a menu without beverage ! The town is peaceful, with of course nice and old churches, the river Loire run through
The countryside is very quiet and almost the only agriculture sector is feeding cows: La Charolaise: very good meat ... yes again something to eat.
Next stop Clermont-Ferrand, why is this town known ? Any idea post a comment.
